Definitely MayFly!

During the past week I took some time out of the "9 to 5" and spent some glorious time doing what I do best - shopping!

Due to the roaring success of last summers Maritime Festival and the (not so successful) 12 Days of Christmas Market (sorry folks but the stalls were mainly crap), I took a thought I'd visit what's turning out to be my favourite "stall" ever - MayFly!

MayFly is a great little hidden gem, trading Monday through to Saturday from their premises in 64 Pleasant's Place (behind Camden St, Dublin 8) and Sundays they set up shop in the People's Park in Dun Laoghaire.

They stock fabulous and quirky items which are just up my street! This week I purchased something I've had my beady eye on since first discovering MayFly at the Maritime Festival in 2008 - a cool petticoat - "every girls dream"... Made of 2 layers of chiffon which measure over 35 metres in total - these, in my opinion are a MUST HAVE!

I purchased a rasberry coloured one (€49) for a friend's little girl who turns 2yrs old next week. I think I might be more excited about it than she will be lol :) Below is the picture of the skirt as featured by Cradlerock but I promise to take a picture of my friend's little girl in hers and post it soon :)As Cradlerock state - this trully is an absolute must for any little girl who loves to twirl! I so wish I had the liathroidí to buy the larger size and wear it myself :) I may indulge myself soon and get one - sure I'd definitely get the chance to have an auld boogie in one at an Imelda May concert ;)

Back to MayFly - they stock all sorts of cool clothing for mothers and fathers, lighting, kiddies bits and bobs, not to mention the fab jewellery by http://www.courtneydesigns.ie/. It's definitely, definitely (not maybe) worth a visit! Head along Camden Street (on the right hand side) towards Rathmines, turn right onto Pleasant's Street, take the next right (yes it's a lane way) and you'll discover MayFly! You can always have a peek into the Daintree Paper Shop (on Camden Street, opposite Age Action) and once you've worked your way through there, simply pop out through the back door, call into the Cake Cafe in the courtyard and once you've stocked up on your refreshments stroll on through the courtyard, take a right and there's MayFly!

PS - the staff are extremely helpful!!! I'm applying for more annual leave shortly and taking another trip!

PPS - products are ethical & fairtrade

PPPS - where's your favourite "hidden gem" of a shop - pray do tell!
